Cardiff is our family's home

We're proud to be a local, family-run business that's been serving Cardiff since 1999, and just as proud to still be the only grocery store in Wales specialising in Korean and Japanese food.

Built from scratch, with heart

We first opened our doors in 1999, when not many people in Wales had heard of Korean or Japanese food. We saw a gap in the Welsh market for a grocery store specialising in these cuisines, and decided to take a huge risk and start our own business.

We had no friends or connections in Cardiff, and hardly spoke English. We built this business completely from scratch, putting our heart and soul into every part of it.

Since then, we've met so many incredible people and developed invaluable relationships with both our business and retail customers, expanding along the way to offer a wider range of East Asian goods.

A family you'll get to know

To this day, we remain a family-run shop, and after 25 years, many of our customers feel like family too. We're proud to say Cardiff is our family's home, and we're humbled and appreciative of the support we receive from our community.

The People Behind CKJFoods

More than a shop: a team, a community and a shared love of food.

Since opening our doors in 1999, CKJFoods has been lucky enough to work alongside some truly wonderful people. Over the years, different faces have welcomed customers through our doors, shared their knowledge, recommended their favourite ingredients and helped make CKJFoods what it is today.

If you’ve been shopping with us for a while, you may recognise some of those faces, and you may remember the many others who have been part of our journey along the way. Every member of our team has brought something special to CKJFoods, helping to shape our culture and the experience we strive to give our customers.

At the heart of it all is a genuine passion for food. Whether it’s helping someone find an ingredient they’ve been searching for, sharing a recipe idea, introducing a customer to something new or simply having a chat at the counter, we love being able to share our enthusiasm for Korean, Japanese and Asian food with the people who shop with us.
